Why Were Muslims Against Bhagat Singh?

Today is the death anniversary of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi. On this very day in 1931, Shankar Vidyarthi was lynched by a Muslim mob. He had gone to a neighborhood to protect Muslims. In fact, after Bhagat Singh was hanged, there was a strike announced in Kanpur. However, Muslim shopkeepers did not want to close their shops which led to riots. What happened in those riots?
