In a big blow to Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken over 70 hectares of land belonging to Mohammad Ali Jauhar University. The BJP government in UP took over the land after Rampur ADM Court ruled that the land needed to be returned to the government since the Jauhar Ali trust did not fulfill conditions on which the land was given to the Jauhar University.
