Nehru followed Mahatma Gandhi’s path and became the single most opposing force towards creating an atmosphere for equitable partition policies in Bengal. The entire focus seemed to be on Muslim appeasement. Muslims from West Bengal stayed back which has resulted today in a significant percentage (27%) of electorate being Muslims.
