The fate of around 191 candidates on 30 Assembly seats will be decided in the first phase elections of West Bengal. People in the tribal-dominated districts of Bankura, Purulia, Jhargram, West Medinipur, and East Medinipur voted overwhelmingly for the Trinamool Congress in the last two assembly elections. However, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had swept this region.
