Ukhu, a village in Pulwama, South Kashmir, once called the nursery of terror. Now there is no violence, peace prevails here. 12 large scale units for making wood pencils are being operated in the village. There are also many small units in the houses. About two thousand people are getting employment from them. The pencil is the basis of life for most of the population of four thousand in Ukhu.
