Silchar Results: Himanta Big Attack on Rahul Gandhi! Congress Wins Just 2 Seats in Ballot Paper Poll
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi following the results of the Silchar Municipal Corporation elections. The ruling BJP-led NDA secured a landslide victory by winning 34 out of the 42 total seats. Notably, this election was conducted using traditional ballot papers instead of Electronic Voting Machines. Out of the 42 wards, the BJP alone bagged 32 seats, while the Congress party managed to win only 2 seats. Capitalizing on these results, Chief Minister Sarma openly questioned the opposition's persistent narrative and criticism surrounding EVMs. He argued that the defeat on ballot papers exposes the lack of ground support for Congress, rather than any flaws in voting machines. This decisive electoral outcome has triggered a fresh political debate across the state regarding the credibility of voting methods and the diminishing electoral footprint of the grand old party in Assam.
