A fresh controversy has erupted at Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia University during protests demanding the resumption of student union elections, which have been neglected since 2006. Demonstrators called for the restoration of the union in the upcoming 2026-27 elections and urged an end to the crackdown on student protests. However, the situation escalated after contentious slogans such as "Free Kashmir" and "Free Sharjeel Imam" were raised at the campus. Reacting to the incident, prominent Muslim cleric Maulana Sajid Rashidi alleged that Abhijeet Dipke of CJP and Neha Bora were behind the controversial slogans. He has demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into their involvement to uncover the truth behind the sloganeering that diverted attention from the primary student grievances regarding union elections and administrative crackdowns.
